Lance Shabazz's life was the Nation of Islam. This book journey’s over fifty
personal years traveling thousands of miles and many dozens of interviews
culminating my Decision to walk away from it all. I realized my beliefs and
principles gained as a follower of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad is
rejected, altered, modified and the last trick our messenger warned us all to
stay away from what today’s so-called followers accept. Lip profession
counts for naught unless carried into practice. I therefore share some of my
history for the family and students of the Nation of Islam.

About Lance Shabazz

Lance Shabazz was born in Queens, NY in early November. Though his name would not surface for days, his arrival signaled the dawning of a new period in young black children's lives.  Attallah Shabazz, daughter of Malcolm and Betty Shabazz was born  two days after Lance received his name.  Lance from an early age represented the Nation of Islam.

"I would not have changed a thing," he says. "Growing up a Muslim meant the world to me."

Lance as a young Muslim drew strength from his family -- foremost his father, James, and his Uncles, George and Henry.  Lance spent his youth collecting materials from Jet magazine, SOUL magazine and many black publications. Muhammad Speaks was always throughout his home.  He recalls his father's vehicle being stolen. When the police retrieved it, they spoke of the hundreds of Muhammad Speaks in the trunk of the car.

Lance serves as a proud member of the Fruit of Islam (FOI). He took an oath to defend truth at any cost, and never deny the truth while telling it. Lance Shabazz was as an official in the Nation of Islam, as well as a minister, lieutenant, study group leader and fisherman.  He prepared the weekly broadcast of the National Representative Minister Farrakhan in the city of New York, and assisted the East Coast Minister, Linward X, and later Khallid Muhammad.

In 2006, Lance developed the television program The Lance Shabazz Show. The show was designed to inspire, educate and inform audiences of the greatness of the Nation of Islam and the Honorable Elijah Muhammad.

Lance continues today as a husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend to rightly thinking persons.
